Traditional Stove Top Oatmeal
Serves 4
There’s something so comforting about a warm bowl of true old fashioned oatmeal. And truthfully it doesn’t take that much more time to make than the instant packets. So let’s bring traditional oatmeal back to breakfast with this simple preparation.
Ingredients:
31/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon ghee (or clarefied butter)
Directions:
Bring the milk, vanilla and salt up to a boil.
Lower the heat to medium and stir the oats into the warmed mixture.
Using a wooden spoon, stir continuously until most of the liquid is absorbed and your desired consistency is met (usually about 6 minutes). Note: You really don’t want to walk away from this, as the almond milk can have a tendency to bubble over if left unattended.
Once you have the right consistency, stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon and ghee. Serve immediately.
