Alkalizing Juice

(Whole 30 Compliant)

One of the best ways to start the day is with an alkalizing green juice.  It sets the body on the right track for the rest of the day.  No sugar spike and no heavy, weighted down feeling.  I know when I do it, I feel my best.

With that said, it can be tedious and expensive to buy juice from a bar or even to juice at home.  Ideally, juices (and smoothies for that matter) should contain lots of leafy greens and yes this is the best you can do when it comes to juicing.  However, that can be draining on the bank account.  For that reason, this is my go to juice to prepare as it uses vegetables that contain a lot of juice, but don’t cost as much.  A little goes a longer way.  Additionally, it has no apple, pear, or other high sugar fruit, which keeps it alkalizing and friendly to anyone battling yeast.  And don’t worry, it still tastes sweet without the fruit (carrots have a lot of sweetness to them).  Although, the lemon and ginger also help it to taste great.

Additionally, I’ve added spirulina powder to mine for the detoxification benefit.  Spirulina is an algae that is known to detox the body from heavy metals.

I encourage you to give it a try.  It’s best when you drink it fresh, but you can also make it ahead of time and put it in the freezer to drink later.

I mentioned drinking it for breakfast, but it also works great as an afternoon pick me up between lunch and dinner (think of those afternoon salt and sugar cravings).  Drink how you like and enjoy your newfound energy! Cheers!
